December 3rd 2018 - Kampala, Uganda

Guaranty Trust Bank (Uganda) Limited (GTBank, Uganda), has developed and introduced into the market an Online fee and payment Collection platform dubbed ‘GTPay’ GTPay is an integrated and secured online payment and collections platform designed to enable businesses and institutions collect payments online for goods and services rendered or to be rendered.

GTPay is an ideal online sales and payments collections platform for schools, churches, cinemas, airlines, supermarkets, betting and gaming companies etc.  Once deployed for an institution or business, customers and general public (e.g students, parents) with access to internet connectivity can pay for goods and services (e.g school fees, examination fees) of such an institution on line, without having to visit the institution physically.

Currently, customers of businesses that adopt GTPay can make payments using their Master or Visa cards issued anywhere in the world. Plans are at advanced stage for GTPay to accept Mobile money.

In today’s digital era, customers have become increasingly demanding of services “on-the-go”. Customers are now seeking to make payments anywhere and anytime without having to travel to the bank premises.

It is against the backdrop of this ever-changing customers preference that made GTBank Uganda to develop and introduce this product to boost online sales and fee collection by Uganda businesses and institutions and provide a highly convenient and secured payment platform for their customers and patrons. The product is currently being used by businesses and instituutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia where GTBank has operations.

On-boarding of an institution on GTPay is very simple and seamless. It is cost free as GTBank technology team would be available for the required integration process.

GTPay is also user friendly. Payment process would normally commence after online shopping have been completed on a typical merchant website and the GTPay payment platform which would have been integrated to the website appears.

On the payment page, the payee would be required to follow the instructions and enter his/her personal details, type of payment and other relevant information as may be required. The payee then clicks submit after which a page for payment options appears. The payment option page would ask the payee to choose his payment option.

Following the selection of the payment option, the payee is required to input his card details (card number, expiry date, CVV) for payment processing. On completing the payment process, the payee’s account is debited instantly and merchant account credited. The GTPay platform provides an automatic generation of payment notification to the Merchant and a printable online receipt to the payee.

GTPay which is widely in use in other African countries of Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia etc provides significant comfort to parents when it is adopted by a school, as fees can be paid from the comfort of their homes and receipts printed. Insurance companies are using the GTPay solution to sell insurance and collect premium while a utility companies are using it to collects bill payments.

An icing on the cake from GTBank is that GTPay would be deployed with an administrative portal where customers can view, print and download account statements.  GTPay also has its own account reconciliation platform.
