GTBank Ghana adjudged ‘Technology Advance Bank of the Year’.

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited has been named winner of the Technology Advance Bank of the Year award at the just ended Ghana Telecom Awards in Accra, with the theme ‘Celebrating Excellence in the ICT Industry’.

The ceremony which took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel saw GTBank emerged winner amongst a list of five nominated banks, namely Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, UT Bank, Ecobank and GTBank.

The Group Head of Technology, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Leopold Armah receiving the award over the past weekend said that the Award is in recognition of the Bank’s leadership in the area of e-banking solutions and its commitment to continually deliver unrivaled IT channels for the convenience of customers and also to delight and bring utmost satisfaction in doing business with GTBank.
Whilst dedicating the Awards to customers, Mr. Armah stated that, ‘This will definitely spur us on to even deliver more especially in the area of using technology to make our products and services further accessible to our customers wherever they might find themselves’.

The Head of Corporate Affairs and Administration of the Bank, Mr. Ben Ackah-Mensah who received the Award together with Mr. Armah expressed his pleasure at this feat and stated that, ‘It feels good to be recognized for superior performance and hard work’. ‘At GTBank, we are relentless in our quest to finding novel solutions that aid our processes to serve customers and also solutions that provide utmost convenience for all those we do business with’, he added.

 In recent times, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited has introduced over five innovative electronic banking solutions / products, all for the further convenience of customers. These include GTTrade Tracker, a customer-driven product that allows individual and corporate clients to follow and monitor the processing of trade transactions (LCs, bill of collection etc) with the Bank; GTReturn Cheque Notification, an interactive platform that forwards notification to customers in the form of emails / SMS immediately an inward cheque is returned from a third party bank; and GTPay (Web Acquiring), an integrated and secure online gateway or platform to enable corporate clients such as hotels, bookshops, educational institutions, churches, airlines, supermarkets etc accept payments on their websites.

The others comprise GTRemote Cheque Capturing, the first of its kind to be launched in Ghana, which enables customers to deposit cheques (either GTBank or other banks’ cheques) into their accounts remotely from offices without visiting any of GTBank’s branches; and GTDirect (Third Party Online Transfer), the first fully automated online third party transfer service in Ghana. It allows transfer from a GTBank customer’s cedi account to his or her cedi account or a beneficiary’s cedi account in other banks in Ghana. The above innovative e-banking introductions compliment a plethora of other e-banking products and services that already exist on the GTBank robust IT platform.
GTBank in its eight years of operations in Ghana has established its leadership, especially in the area of electronic banking services.
In this relatively short period of existence, the bank has been adjudged Bank of the Year in 2009 and 2010. It has also won several key category awards over the years, including Best Mobile Bank, Best Bank – IT/Electronic Banking and been named as the ‘Most Customer-focused Bank in Ghana’ in a KPMG customer satisfaction survey report.
